Green Growth for Food Security and Poverty Reduction Public Campaign

The public campaign’s overall goal was to promote adaptation to climate change through faith-based education for sustainable development (ESD). It was organized by The Kenya Organization for Environmental Education (KOEE) in conjuction with the County Government of Machakos, with sponsorship from Act! and Industrial and Commercial Development Cooperation (ICDC). The event was held on the 17th of November 2015 at St Mary’s Girls primary school grounds under the theme: “Promoting Green Economies for Food Security and Poverty Reduction”. The forum brought together the private sector, government officials, learning institutions, faith groups and civil society groups to exchange ideas and experiences on aspects of Green Growth as an answer to food insecurity. The forum aimed at promoting climate-smart technologies to promote sustainable natural resource management as well as adaptation and resilience to climate change, using education and advocacy.
